PED
In Europe, all equipment that contains fluids at a pressure greater than 0.5 bar must comply with the European Union (EU) Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and bear the CE mark.
This European-wide legislation applies in all EU Member States and many other European countries. Equipment regulated under PED ( 2014/68/EU) includes vessels, tanks, reactors, pressurized storage containers, heat exchangers, steam generators, boilers, fire extinguishers, filters, accumulators, skidded assemblies, piping, different types of valves, industrial piping, safety devices and pressure accessories.
For PED, each equipment type must be classified into a hazard or risk category (from SEP to Category IV) according to an ascending level of hazard. Based on the category, the manufacturer must choose a conformity assessment procedure to certify a product. Most of the conformity assessments require certification of a product or manufacturer’s quality system by an approved/accredited third party organization called a Notified Body.
VACS in collaboration with Notified bodies provides complete assessment for PED products. We cover the following services under PED
- Product Certification & Inspection
- Quality System Approval- Material Manufacturers
- Welder Approval
- Unit Verification
- Design Examination
