Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU

The Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (LVD) is a European Directive that provides safety requirements for all electrical equipment to be sold within the EU – specifically, 50-100V AC or 75-1500V DC.

The purpose of the Low Voltage Directive is to ensure safe electrical equipment within a specific voltage range.  It is a standard harmonised legislation to provide products with appropriate electrical safety measures.

The manufacturer is required to affix CE markings, after compilation of technical file and issue Declaration of Conformity.

This directive covers such electrical equipment as household appliances, laser equipment, sockets and cables.

This Directive covers all the electrical items with an input or output of alternating current voltage ranging from 50 to 1000 V or direct current voltage between 75 and 1500 V.

Equipment which are used by being incorporated into other electrical equipment as well as those which work directly, all fall under the scope of this directive, provided they work in the given current voltage range.

VACS Benefits:

We in alliance with European Partners provides Conformity assessment for all the products falling under the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU.

Under Low Voltage Directive, conformity assessment procedure is not required to be carried out by Notified Body and Manufacturer can alone carry out Conformity Assessment Procedure for LVD and can use CE Marking on the product along with issuance of Declaration of Conformity.

VACS as a certification body issues Certificate of Conformity.

We also provides:
  • Safety Testing of the product as per EN/ IEC standards in the Accredited Testing Laboratory
  • Conformity Assessment as per Directive 2014/35/EU
  • Review of Technical File, Gap Analysis, Declaration of Conformity
  • Review of Existing test reports to comply with Directive Requirements
